Heritage Foods
Folklore
Level 2 Destination Singapore Beach Road 700 Beach Road, Singapore 199598

The year end is always a good time to take stock, and there’s no better way to do this than to feast on grub that connects taste with tradition – like heritage foods. Folklore serves up an eclectic mix, comprising five cuisines unique to Singapore’s culture: Chinese, Malay, Indian, Peranakan and European. Savour the taste of tradition such as singgang, a long-lost Eurasian dish of wolf herring, de-boned and cooked in a non-spicy paste; and hati babi bungkus, a Peranakan dish cooked during ancestor offerings. Or go for babi assam, Peranakan chap chye, sambal buah keluak fried rice, as well as desserts such as kueh kosui and double-boiled white fungus with papaya.
