Even better still — you can use your NS55 credits to change the life of someone in need. $100 may not be a gamechanger for you, but it makes the difference for low income families, children and youth, as well as severely disabled servicemen injured in the line of duty.
Pop on by to SAFRA Cares and use the LifeSG app to donate your credits!
2. Salute to you, our NSmen
Salute, take a picture or video, and post it on social media with a message of appreciation for our NSmen! Don’t forget to add the hashtags #NS55salute and #safrasg.
It’s one way to be part of the expanded range of We Thank NSmen initiatives by SAFRA, which were announced by Senior Minister of State for Defence Zaqy Mohamad at the launch at SAFRA Toa Payoh.
He noted how there has been a strong outpouring of community support amid these opportunities for Singaporeans to show their appreciation to national servicemen.
3. Art jamming by little ones
This one will win your heart over with cuteness.
Over 35,000 children from more than 300 preschools, including NurtureStars Preschool, are taking part in the Appreciating NSmen Art Jam.
The little ones colour paper craft figurines of national servicemen from different services, complete with a personal message for their daddies as a gift.
President of the Association of Early Childhood & Training Services, Susan Loke, shared that this experience “gives the family the opportunity to bond” as preschoolers learn about what their daddies do in NS to keep Singapore safe.
The NSmen Art Jam is in its third edition this year and aims to help the little ones discover and appreciate what role our national servicemen play in defending Singapore and our way of life.
4. Video competition
From live action films to inspiring animations and original songs, you’ll be surprised at the heart and effort these young filmmakers bring to the table.
This year, a record 225 students from 18 secondary schools and tertiary institutions produced and submitted their best works in the Appreciating NSmen Video Competition. The winning videos will be shared on social media and screened at SAFRA clubs and other community spaces such as HDB estates.
18-year-old Andy Wan, who worked on the winning entry “Duty” with his fellow students from Temasek Polytechnic, shared that their film brings out something most people can relate to with loved ones who went through it.
“All of us here, we respect the amount of self-sacrifice and the duty that they show towards their responsibilities in national service,”
