Every year, the seasonal “refresh” of the home always leads to plenty of perfectly good items ending up in the refuse collection centre. While you might not want certain stuff, there is a family and a charity which will accept your items. From old electronics to furniture, here is everything you need to know about donating the bigger items in Singapore.
Pass-It-On
This is an online portal designed to help connect donors to various Voluntary Welfare Organizations (VWOs). Once you have posted an item on the website, it will be made available to all registered VWOs, who shall reserve the donated items if find suitable for their needy clients. VWOs shall arrange collection of the donated items directly with the donor.
The Salvation Army
Operating one of the biggest thrift stores in Singapore, Salvation Army accepts all sorts of donations. The social enterprise arm of Salvation Army, called Red Shield Industries, processes the donated items and retails those that are in good condition at Salvation Army’s Family Stores located across Singapore. Proceeds from sales go to providing holistic care to the community.

Metta Welfare Association
While there are plenty of old electronics collection points for e-waste, there is an organization which will benefit from old electronics. E-waste recycling firm, Tes-Amm, together with Metta, will make a donation-in-kind of corresponding value to Metta for each item received.
Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore
MINDS, or Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore, operates thrift stores that serve as training grounds for the trainees to tend to customers. Besides the day-to-day operations of managing the store and sorting through the goods, trainees also learn how to be resourceful by making good out of unwanted items.
