When you need a quick getaway but don’t want to travel overseas, head to one of the modern and luxurious beach bungalows at the NSRCC (National Service Resort & Country Club) in Changi.
Designed to resemble a home away from home, the two-storey holiday bungalows are family-friendly (perfect for hosting special celebrations like birthdays and family reunions) and offer all the conveniences of a country club.
SAFRA has two corporate bungalow units (Units 16 and 17), each offering views of Changi Beach or the golf course. The maximum capacity of each bungalow is eight. As a SAFRA member, you can save up to $83 per night in rental fees compared to citizens – that’s a saving of more than 30%.
Here are six other great reasons to book your bungalow today.
1. Tranquil natural setting
The bungalows are nestled within NSRCC off the east coast of the island, so you’ll be surrounded by the club’s golf courses as well as scenic Changi Beach. Imagine waking up to views of the sea or looking out your window onto the lush green fairway or landscaped gardens. The country club grounds are beautiful, well-shaded and well-maintained, making them ideal for morning or evening walks. And when you need some quiet time away from your group, you can simply stroll down to the beach, relax on the sand and enjoy the cooling sea breeze.
2. Spacious and comfortable units
The bungalows are air-conditioned for your comfort, with two cosy twin-sharing bedrooms and spacious living and dining areas in each. This is welcome news if you need to accommodate a large group. In fact, the bungalows are perfect for a three-generation gathering, ensuring that everyone has their own space to move around in. You’ll also find ample outdoor space around the bungalows that are suitable for children to play in.
All units are tastefully furnished and outfitted, with furniture in calming neutral tones, tiled and wooden floors, and plenty of windows allowing natural light to stream through.
3. Amenities to make you feel at home
However long your stay, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your bungalow is equipped with everything you need for meals, entertainment and more.
For starters, the kitchen comes with a fridge, freezer, microwave oven, electric air pot, induction cooker, and cutlery for up to four people. Each bungalow also has two bathrooms with showers as well as bath and hand towels, toiletries and a hairdryer.
The living room features a 55-inch LED TV, offering access to 24 channels – so you’re covered for movie nights. And, of course, Wi-Fi is a given in every bungalow.
If you need extra bedding, like mattresses, pillows, blankets and linen, for instance, you can rent them through the club. PVC tables and chairs, and even mahjong sets, are also available for rent.
4. Country club facilities
Because the bungalows are part of NSRCC, you get to use the country club’s facilities. These include the fitness centre, which houses a range of strength and cardio training equipment, and the three swimming pools (adult’s leisure pool, children’s wading pool and children’s play pool). Bungalow pass holders can enjoy free entry into both these facilities.
Special in-house guest rates apply if you wish to use the club’s other facilities, such as the tennis, squash and basketball courts, billiards room, sea sports centre – where you can learn to sail and windsurf, bowling alley, karaoke room and games room.
Other perks for bungalow pass holders: one complimentary car pass per bungalow (chargeable for a second vehicle); dining discounts; and special club promotions.
5. On-site dining
For a special family meal – or if you don’t feel like cooking or heading outside the club to eat – grab a table at any one of the club’s dining establishments.
Fu Lin Men Chinese Restaurant specialises in Cantonese cuisine like Peking duck; Passion Cafe serves local fare like chicken rice, laksa and chicken curry, as well as Japanese and Western dishes; Poolside Bistro, which overlooks the swimming pools, offers local and Western meals from grilled chicken chop and sambal BBQ stingray to Teochew bak kut teh; and Sky Bistro, at the top floor of NSRCC Sky Range, has an extensive menu with dishes like Hainanese pork chop and beef burger sliders.
6. Outdoor fun
There’s no shortage of things to do when you step out of your bungalow, and that includes hosting a BBQ for your family and friends. As a bungalow pass holder you can enjoy exclusive use of the club’s private BBQ pit.
And there’s no need to lug all your BBQ essentials with you, because you can easily purchase them from the club during your stay. Available items include aluminium foil, BBQ tongs, charcoal, fire starters, wire mesh, serviettes and disposable plates and cutlery.
