Hear ye, hear ye! May is set to be a very exciting month. Not only can we freely go for a walk in the park without putting our masks on, but there are also so many events happening around this time. Music lovers are enjoying the return of live music and DJ sets, clubs are finally open again for endless nights of dancing, we can finally gather in groups with no restriction on the number of people, and a bunch of public holidays to look forward to this month. And of course, not forgetting a day to celebrate our beloved mothers.
With international travel now more convenient, we can look forward to going on a vacation over the long weekends. Heading to see London’s magnificent Georgian architecture or just planning to enjoy a seaside cocktail in Bali? It’s your choice.
Without further ado, here are the cool new happenings you can look forward to in Singapore this May.

Dining
The Kongsee
A pioneer of modern-Singapore cuisine, Chef Willin Low has recently launched his latest venture – a bar serving Singapore-centric cocktails inspired by the country’s heritage and terroir. It takes the form of a mod-Sin izakaya with a cocktail menu that focuses on timeless classics, elevated with the use of local ingredients and inspirations.
The drinks menu comes in the form of Singapore’s iconic dining spots, from Bugis to Cuppage, Lucky Plaza and Golden Mile. Order up the Tau Pok, a low ABV drink-based sake inspired by the Japanese Community in Singapore or the Aiyo Tom Yum, a cocktail inspired by the famous Thai dish. Feeling social? You can also expect a calendar of curated events, guest shifts, pop-ups, and many exciting collaborations with artisans, venues, bartenders and chefs.

Tanglin Gin Jungle
Singapore’s first-ever gin distillery, Tanglin Gin – with their popular distillery tours – has a new home in the lush Dempsey enclave. Tanglin Gin’s new digs come even bigger and bolder with an exciting new experience called the Gin Jungle, a cosy outdoor enclave surrounded by nature. Enjoy the immersive surroundings while sampling a cocktail of your choice, prepared with expertise.
Prefer sitting at the bar while the friendly bartenders shake up your favourite gin? Grab a seat indoors. You can even learn mixology by taking part in one of the cocktail masterclasses by the knowledgeable bartenders, who will give you a peek into some industry ‘secrets’ and break down the art of creating craft versions of classic libations.
