From the shooting range to baking workshops, these mother-son activities can be done all-year round, too.

When it comes to mum’s special day, there’s no doubt that the the most precious gift you can give her is your time and company. Here are some ideas for ways to spend quality time with your supermum – and it doesn’t have to be only on Mother’s Day.

1. Head to the shooting range

If mum’s always been curious about your NS experience, show her a thing or two from your NS days with a session at Denker Sports World Shooting. While the sport is a measure of accuracy, focus and precision, it’s also cathartic, especially if mum’s in need of a stress-relieving exercise.

Special Mother’s Day promotion for SAFRA members – Mums and kids from P4 and above shoot for half the price between 5 to 19 May! More info at www.safra.sg/promotions/denker-mothersday

2. Dig into a hearty meal

There’s nothing like a dinner treat to express your appreciation for mum. And when it comes to mouthwatering dishes, we know she’ll be spoilt for choice at Carousel, an award-winning buffet restaurant at Royal Plaza on Scotts. There, she’ll find a wide variety of international fare ranging from Mediterranean to Japanese and French. All dishes are prepared in halal-certified kitchens.

SAFRA members enjoy 15% off the total food bill with the code SAFRA15; more info at www.safra.sg/promotions/carousel-buffet-restaurant

3. Discover a whole new world

If mum’s never been to the S.E.A. Aquarium before, she’ll be impressed by the sheer size and magnitude of the place. As you take a leisurely stroll around the aquarium, have fun learning about the various species and spot familiar favourites like Nemo the clownfish and Dory, the regal blue tangfish.

Book your tickets to the aquarium via Klook, where SAFRA members get to enjoy 5% off Klook activities with the code SAFRASG2021; more info at www.safra.sg/promotions/klook

4. Go bowling

Unleash mum’s competitive side by challenging her to a bowling game at Sonic Bowl, or have a friendly family tournament: Mum and sis vs Dad and bro! This May, Sonic Bowl is offering all SAFRA members a special rate of just $4 per game (usual price $4.90 during peak hours).

Sonic Bowl is located at SAFRA Punggol and SAFRA Yishun; more info at www.safra.sg/promotions/mother’s-day-promotion-at-sonic-bowl

5. Make it a picnic

There’s something beautiful about picnics and we’ve got plenty of spots – such as the Botanic Gardens or the Marina Barrage – for an idyllic day out. It doesn’t take much to prep for one either. Pack a picnic filled with mum’s favourite snacks and drinks and simply enjoy the day. Not sure what to pick? Cop some snazzy ideas from our guide here.

6. Bake a cake together

What’s a celebration without cake? This year, make it a special affair by baking one from scratch with mum! If mum’s palate favours fancy flavours such as peanut butterscotch cake, there’s a class at Baker’s Brew that’s just the thing. Prefer other flavours such as chocolate or mango passionfruit? The team at Bakefresh Studio has got you covered, along with classes for making other desserts like kueh and agar agar cake.

Baker’s Brew is at various locations, please refer to their website for class schedules
Bakefresh Studio is at Blk 1 Tanjong Pagar Plaza #02-42, Singapore 082001
