Looking for a fun and healthy way to occupy your kids? Try signing them up for one of the many art classes available at Canvas Ark at SAFRA Toa Payoh.
With a curriculum designed to encourage creativity and instil confidence in students, Canvas Ark programmes are guided by a team of trained visual art instructors.
A wide variety of traditional and modern art mediums, such as drawing, painting and clay modelling are utilised in every lesson to broaden students’ creativity and perceptiveness. At the end of each art session, students are encouraged to share and reflect on their final masterpiece as well as their thoughts behind their art-making process.
We tagged along with Jerlyn and Jarrell to a Canvas Ark class to take a look at what you can expect!
Here’s a little more on the classes that Jerlyn and Jarrell experienced:
Fabric Art
Using a process-based teaching method, the Fabric Art class is suitable for kids aged 4 to 12, where they learn to have fun with rainbow coloured strings, fabric and yarn. While doing so, they pick up skills in finger dexterity, and get to touch and explore new materials. Each lesson is 1.5 hours long.

Artist Series
Kids learn from art history by recreating the paintings of famous artists. Themes are based on the art of Vincent Van Gogh and Henri Matisse, and kids refine their drawing skills, learn basic art history and acrylic painting on canvas. The class is suitable for kids 7 years and up and each lesson is 1.5 hours long.
