Staying in is the new “in” thing (at least until mid-June, for now), and while adults may get a better handle on the situation, the little people in the family might feel less enthu about the whole situation. Keep your young ’un safe and smiling by shopping at these online kid stores to find the right toys and room furnishings to freshen up their living space and level up their playtime at home to chase away the indoor blues.

If you wish to sort out all of your toddler’s needs, wants and everything else in between, then try visiting KinderbabyZ. The goods retailed here are categorised simply into “Toys & Essentials”, “Arts & Crafts” and “Clothings”, so first-time new parents won’t get too befuddled by what to peruse through. The focus of your search if you are looking for stuff to amuse your rugrat is, but of course, “Toys & Essentials”.

What we spy here with our little eye for active playtime: a fancy looking 3-in-1 Walker & Scooter that comes with all the bells and whistles like a spinning fan, spinning toy and a horn button; an ergonomically designed indoor kids playground set; and – if you have a pool where you live –  swimming chair floats that come in different colours and designs. Our top pick for less energy-sapping fun (for the parents, at least): Soft Brick Lego, colourful plastic building blocks that are super-sized, soft and durable, so if your lil’ Babe-zilla decides to throw, bash or even chew on them, the blocks won’t break or end up being swallowed. Which means that they are safe enough for babies to play with and construct simple animals (think deers and elephants) and vehicles (carts and planes are possible) out of.

Momiji Kids

If you prefer to be more considered in your choice of furniture and furnishings that are suited for your next gen, it might be worth your while to check out Momiji Kids. Founded by the husband & wife team of Ying and Darren, this kids-related business is all about passing on the legacy of good workmanship, quality goods and sustainability. They work with traditional artisans in Indonesia to create handmade children’s furniture and furnishings that are sustainably made and durable (rattan is the main material used), in the hope that the parents who buy these wares can bring them home and let their own kids learn about the value of great craftsmanship and that quality trumps mass-consumerism any day.

Noble values aside, it helps that Momiji Kids’ wares look good and are designed with thought. While there aren’t exactly a wide variety of toys to buy – think more furnishings and items to go with the toys in LO’s room – there is enough to prick anyone’s interest. Its rattan Rubble Toy Trolley comes with wooden wheels and a white mattress so your mini-me can play parent and push their plushies around the house. The Buddy Carry Case is a handwoven rattan carrier to house toys, that comes with a mattress within (so the toys are kept safe), which your LO can use to bring their fave plushies to tuck them into their very own Doll Bassinets. But, what we really recommend (that’s unfortunately sold out at the moment, but do email them to enquire for future stock) is the Vespa Rocker. It’s designed like a vintage-style children’s rocker, but updated in an eye-pleasing mint colour – it looks so cool we’re sure kid-dults would want one for themselves!
