The Ability Walk & Run is a fundraiser organised by Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD), a local charity set up to help people with disabilities maximise their potential and integrate them into mainstream society. This year’s event, which is in its fourth edition, aims to promote inclusion and raise awareness aboutdisability. Look out for “The Blind World”, an installation that lets participants experience challenges faced by those with visual impairments. Or learn to manoeuvre a mini-obstacle course while in a wheelchair.

A major cultural event in Asia, the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the eighth month on the lunar calendar, marks the end of the harvest season with the gathering of family and friends. It is also synonymous with a much-loved festival past-time – savouring mooncakes, traditional sweet delicacy filled with white lotus seed paste and typically enjoyed with tea. Race fever hits Singapore once again in September with the arrival of the F1 Grand Prix. Over 250,000 spectators are expected to attend the night race, as the world’s top drivers go wheel-to-wheel around picturesque Marina Bay. The sheer scale of the event calls for a 4,000-strong crew working round the clock to set up facilities such as concrete barriers, grand stands and hospitality facilities throughout the circuit park.
