If you’re looking to bring joy to underprivileged Singaporeans this holiday season, Let’s Gift For A Reason is the perfect opportunity. Now in its sixth year, the campaign is SAFRA Toa Payoh’s annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) collaboration with SAFRA Community Services Club (SAFRACS). Through food donations and the granting of wishes, Let’s Gift For A Reason hopes to put a smile on the faces of those in need.
This year, Let’s Gift For A Reason continues to be an integrated CSR effort across all SAFRA clubs so as to create a greater impact within the community. SAFRA has also collaborated with SG Cares to incorporate Let’s Gift for A Reason as part of SG Cares Giving Week 2021, which is happening from 1 to 7 Dec 2021.
There are two ways you can do your part in this year’s Let’s Gift For A Reason: Adopt A Bag and Adopt A Wish.
Adopt A Bag: Sponsor $20 worth of necessities for a household in need. Beneficiaries include elderlies and families living in one-room rental flats and each bag of necessities can last them for almost a month.
To adopt a bag, visit www.safragfar.sg from now till 15 Dec, select the number of bags you would like to adopt and make your payment.
Adopt A Wish: Put a smile on the faces of children from low-income families and caregivers to persons with disabilities by granting their wish.
To adopt a wish:
- From now till 12 Dec, visit any SAFRA Club and pick a wish from the wish board. Each wish will include the child’s name, age, gender and the item he/she would like to receive.
- Register the wish at the Customer Service Counter.
- Receive a Wrapping Kit for every wish adopted. The Wrapping Kit comprises wrapping paper, gift tags and stickers, featuring designs by SAFRA Lil’ Stars 2021 winners as well as scissors and tape.
- Head out and purchase the wish (item value up to $30), wrap it and pen down your well wishes for our beneficiary.
- Return the wrapped wish to the same SAFRA club by 12 Dec 2021.
- The beneficiaries will receive their wishes on 18 and 19 Dec 2021.
This year, in light of Covid-19 and how it has affected many low-income families, SAFRA hopes to fulfil 2,500 bags and 600 wishes.
Last year’s Let’s Gift for A Reason campaign reached out to about three times the number of beneficiaries compared to previous years. More than 1,400 wishes and food packs were donated to vulnerable children and households across 14 beneficiary organisations., which are impressive numbers considering the pandemic restrictions of 2020.
“Caring and providing for the community doesn’t stop when there’s a pandemic,” says SAFRACS Treasurer, Nelson Khoo. “In fact, volunteering during such an event becomes even more essential, to ensure that the neediest among us get all the help they need.
“Let’s Gift For A Reason amplifies the value of charity and gives the community a reason to rejoice, especially for what was a very difficult year in 2020.”
According to Jenny Tan, Club Manager at SAFRA Toa Payoh, SAFRA members, staff and volunteers came together as one to volunteer their time and effort, contributing generously to help the underprivileged last year.
“We were able to extend this campaign of caring and sharing to all six clubs across the island, thereby reaching out to more beneficiaries than we thought possible.”
And the beneficiaries were thrilled with the gifts they received.
“No one was disappointed!” adds Amanda Liu, SAFRA Toa Payoh Asst Projects & Events Executive. “Seeing the beneficiaries smile when we delivered their gifts made our efforts during such a challenging time all the more worth it.”
