National Day is a great time to show your love for Singapore. While attending the parade is popular with many Singaporeans, there’s so much more you can do – not just on the public holiday but during the entire month of August – to celebrate the occasion.

From redeeming free gifts and claiming discounts on products and services (something all of us love), to reliving the good old days, singing your favourite National Day songs and signing the kids up for National Day-themed activities, here are eight fun and exciting ways to say, “Happy 58th Birthday, Singapore!”

1. Watch a live screening of NDP 2023, collect freebies and win prizes

Watch the parade with fellow Singaporeans at SAFRA clubs at Choa Chu Kang, Jurong, Mount Faber, Punggol, Tampines, Toa Payoh and Yishun. The live screening takes place between 5.45pm and 8.30pm, and entry is free.

What’s more, be among the first 200 SAFRA members at each SAFRA club to complete a simple quiz to redeem your limited edition NDP x SAFRA canvas pouch. Colouring materials will be provided so you can decorate the pouch with your family and friends.

Feeling competitive? Take part in the NDP Game Show (all SAFRA clubs) between 5.15pm and 5.45pm for your chance to win prizes. Find out more at safra.sg/whats-on/ndp2023

And over at SAFRA Toa Payoh, cool off at Splish Splash Bash!, a pool party filled with fun and refreshments for the whole family! Find out more and register today at safra.sg/whats-on/ndp2023/safra-toa-payoh

2. Good times for the kids

This National Day, head over to Kidz Amaze outlets at SAFRA Jurong, SAFRA Toa Payoh and SAFRA Punggol, and get your little ones involved in a range of cool activities. There are National Day-themed art and craft sessions, photo-taking opportunities with National Day props, and a sing-a-long session covering everyone’s favourite National Day tunes. Purchase any adult or child entrance ticket and receive a mystery gift. Find out more at safra.sg/our-facilities/kidz-amaze/promotions

3. Pledge towards a healthier lifestyle & get an e-voucher

Be among the first 200 SAFRA members at each SAFRA club to pledge towards a healthier lifestyle from 9 to 31 Aug, and redeem a National Day $5.80 e-voucher in your SAFRA mobile app.

The e-voucher is valid from 9 to 31 Aug 2023 and can be utilised at various participating outlets with no minimum spend. The e-voucher is only valid for use at the same SAFRA Club that you collected it from.

6. Have a picnic with local food

Make or buy local dishes and snacks and set up a family picnic at your favourite beach or park. For a fuss-free picnic and to save on costs, organise a potluck and ask every guest to bring a different dish. Don’t forget the insect repellent, sun protection, a picnic blanket, and plenty of ice to keep your drinks cool.

7. Celebrate local talent

Invite your friends and family over for a screening of hit local movies or flicks that were filmed in Singapore. Go with classics like Army Daze (1996), 12 Storeys (1997) and Money No Enough (1998), or more recent ones like Crazy Rich Asians (2018).

8. Decorate your home in red and white

For most Singaporeans, hanging a flag outside their home is enough. But why not go all out this year and come up with your own red-and-white decorating theme? Enlist your kids to make streamers, banners and paper cut-outs, arrange red and white ornaments around the house, make a National Day-themed table centrepiece, and so on.
