Tips For The Perfect Picnic

1. Choose a great spot
There are several picturesque places on the island for you to choose from. These include the Botanic Gardens, Gardens by the Bay East, East Coast Park, the Marina Barrage, the Southern Islands, Esplanade Roof Terrace, Coney Island, Henderson Waves, Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Fort Canning Park, Sentosa, as well as unique spots such as the lalang field in Tuas, Yishun Dam and Upper Seletar Reservoir.

2. Bring a waterproof mat
This is so important, as it sets the foundation of how your picnic is going to be like. Even if your picnic basket comes with a mat, its better to be prepared. A good, large mat is great for wet grass and sandy terrain; you dont want to be worrying about getting your pants dirty, or worrying about whether theres enough space for everyone.

3. Prepare for insects
We dont mean to sound auntie about this, but weve been there before. Keep the mozzies and other insects at bay with a trusty insect repellent.

4. Prepare for inclement weather
As the weather in Singapore can be unpredictable, we recommend you bring an umbrella or two in case of sudden wet weather.

5. Prepare for the heat
While a day in the sun beats rain anytime, especially if youre out for a picnic, youll want to keep yourself cool while youre at it. A portable cooling fan is just the thing, especially when you may find yourself sweltering under the midday sun. And don’t forget to slap on the sunscreen!

6. Bring drinks
As some picnic packs dont come with drinks, you dont want to get caught in the middle of nowhere, parched and in need of a drink. Bring a few bottles of water or soft drinks along, and you wont regret the decision. Prefer something alcoholic? Stock up on bottles of fine wine, craft beer, and bottled cocktails, if youre so inclined.

7. Dress for the occasion
Why waste a photo opportunity when you have a stunning set-up right in front of you? A cute summer dress (for her) and a chic shirt or tee (for him) matches the settings perfectly. Don a pair of stylish sunglasses or a hat to complete the look.
