After what seemed like forever (when it’s really only been two years), the Singapore government announced that nightlife businesses were allowed to reopen their doors on April 19, 2022. The definition of nightlife businesses encompasses nightclubs, discotheques, and karaoke establishments.
If you’re anything like us, the announcement would have been music to your ears. Plans would also have been quickly made, in case tickets or seats sold out. It has been, after all, two whole years since the Covid-19 pandemic put a hard stop to our party plans.
Here are five bars and nightspots to plan your next gathering. SAFRA members receive special perks at some places, and you can use your NS55 credits too!

The pub offers a plethora of options for gamers and those looking just to hang out – from darts machines to pool tables and karaoke machines. Those looking forward to singing along with the live bands at the pub won’t want to miss their weekly sessions that take place Saturday evenings from 8pm.

3. Lumo Bar & Restaurant
Located at the intersection of Carpenter Street and South Bridge Road, the modern European restaurant and bar was only a few days old before the circuit breaker was imposed in April 2020.
With the measures lifted, you’ll want to check out its cosy space, located on the ground floor of a post-war shophouse. Within, the restaurant serves up hearty and comforting Modern European cuisine, partnered with its signature cocktails and wines. The restaurant’s warm hospitality is simply the icing on the cake.
Lumo is open from Tuesdays to Thursdays from 6pm to 1am; Fridays and Saturdays, as well as the eves of public holidays from 6pm to 2am; and Sundays from 6pm to 10.30pm.
The Kongsee
Established in 2022, The Kongsee, an underground bar located at Gemmill Lane, has its roots steeped in Singaporean culture. The name Kongsee itself refers to “company” in the Hokkien dialect and “share” in the Malay language. True to its name, The Kongsee serves up a menu of Mod-Sin cuisine designed by Mod-Sin cuisine pioneer Willin Low. Its cocktails are equally innovative with firmly local names such as Ong Lai, Bandung, and Kopi O Su Dai Negroni.
The Kongsee is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 12pm till 12am.

Timbre+ Eastside @ Expo
One of the most popular places for live music, Timbre is known for its dedication and commitment to championing local musicians such as Jack and Rai and 53A. Beyond its rota of talented bands, we love Timbre’s relaxed, casual setting, especially at Timbre+ Eastside @ Expo.
The green and sustainable food park is designed and built to reduce the group’s consumption of energy and carbon footprint, in addition to welcoming the communities nearby. Cyclists can make a pit stop for a refreshing beverage, while book lovers may find themselves immersed in the pages available at the book corner. In addition, the space comes with a studio that’s available for fitness classes and workshops.
And what’s a trip to Timbre without sampling its delectable eats? We’re partial to Timbre+ Eastside @ Expo’s Ajiya Okonomiyaki and D’Cendol.
Timbre+ Eastside @ Expo is open from Mondays to Thursdays and Sundays from 9.30am to 12am, and from 9.30am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
