What’s New In March

This month, let the kids loose at a dinosaur-themed attraction, learn how to care for the environment in fun ways, and indulge in all your sneakerhead dreams!

By Diana Najm        9 March 2023

Before you know it, we’re three months into 2023. And since the March holidays are coming up, there’s no better time to round the fam up for some fun bonding activities. Luckily for you, we’ve got a whole lot of them in the pipeline.

Here are all the exciting things happening in Singapore this March, from a kids’ attraction that looks right out of Jurassic Park, to learning how to save the planet through fun activities, and an exhibition to make all your sneaker dreams come true.

Things To Do

Dinoland

Fans of Jurassic Park, it’s time to roar at Dinoland. This new kid-friendly attraction is located at SAFRA Yishun and is the largest indoor live forest with animatronic dinosaurs. The young ones can embark on an immersive trek in their living habitats and come face-to-face with these massive beasts.

That’s not all — there are lots of opportunities for free play. They’ll get their hands dirty with immersive activities including River Crossing, and Fossil Digging, among others. Wander through an underground cave and head into a swamp crossing; who knows, you might just run into a Tyrannosaurus Rex or Velociraptor.

Tickets start from $28 per pax and you’ve got 1.5 hours to explore as freely as you wish.

SAFRA members enjoy 10% off. Find out more at safra.sg/amenities-offerings/dinoland

Eco-Fest @ SAFRA Jurong

Who says you can’t care for Mother Earth while having fun? At Eco-Fest, it’s all about caring for the environment. Running from 7 to 26 March at SAFRA Jurong, take part in a whole lot of activities such as learning to make your own Plastic Carton LED Lamp, to taking part in an Earth Society Eco Awareness Climate Change Talk for free.

There’s also The Salvation Army Donation Drive should you want a safe place to donate your clothes after Marie Kondo-ing your home. It’s good timing leading up to Earth Day on 22 April, too, so gather your fellow eco-warriors and make your way down to SAFRA Jurong.

Kidz Amaze Parenting Talk

We get it, parenting can be hard – especially if it’s your first time. Having a support system or mentor to give you advice on how you can connect with your child more would help massively. This March, sign up for an enriching Parenting Talk with guest speaker Ms Peggy Zee, an experienced trainer in the field of Early Childhood Education (ECE).

During the talk, she’ll be sharing useful tips on how to better understand your child and strengthen family bonds. The best part? It’s free for Kidz Amaze and SAFRA members. All you have to do is register before 10 March here.

Casio G-Shock G-B001

We’re just going to put it out there — it’s time to invest in a new watch. Those who grew up in the 90s would probably be familiar with Casio. This time, they’ve just released the iconic G-Shock with a detachable bezel in unique designs. Called G-B001, they take the form of the brand’s old-school watches released in 1994. Nostalgia factor? It’s at an all-time high.

The detachable bezel on this shock-resistant watch allows you to mix and match components — perfect for personalising a look for your OOTD. Not to mention, its colour pops. For those who prefer a more sophisticated look, there are two other models, the G-B001MVB and the G-B001MVA with more muted tones.

The G-B001MVE, G-B001MVB and G-B001MVA watches are priced at $459, $339, and $349 respectively and are available in Casio G-Shock stores and online

Dining

Xiabu Xiabu Hotpot

Chinese hotpot lovers, we’ve got good news — Xiabu Xiabu Hotpot has landed in Singapore. Hailing from China, the famous hotpot chain makes its first overseas mark here at Bras Basah.

The chain is known for its affordable set meals from $28 where you choose your own soup base, choice of meats, drinks, and sauce. We’d recommend the popular Beef Set or the combined Seafood and Beef Set if you can’t make up your mind. Choose to top up $2 for more premium soup base options such as Nanyang Curry and Hot and Spicy in Sichuan Style. P.S. They also have bubble tea to wash down all that spiciness.

Aniba

Authentic Israeli cuisine may be hard to come by here, save for one or two restaurants. Aniba is set to diversify the offering further. Helmed by renowned chef Meir Adoni, the upscale eatery is set to be the classiest new spot in town.

Come here for delicious kosher dishes such as the Mejaoujim and the Pani Puri with a twist. Those with dietary requirements would appreciate that the menu here is suitable for those on pescatarian and vegetarian diets. Rest assured though, it is far from boring. And of course, you can’t leave without trying the eggplant carpaccio and Jerusalem Bagel served alongside yummy housemade dips.

And before you leave, pop by the bar for a nightcap. The speakeasy cocktail menu has tipples like Art Society (African Rum, Sweet Vermouth, Cacao Nibs, Espresso) and a Bevvy Tail inspired by the prohibition era.
