Out of ideas on how to make the big boss man, the other spouse in the house, the one who puts the “pa” in “parent”, a glad dad this Father’s Day? We feel you, we hear you, and we are here for you: SAFRA, in partnership with Families for Life, DADS for Life and Centre for Fathering, has come up with a plethora of fun-ducational and family-friendly virtual programmes and activities (some free, some you need to register to attend and some you need to pay a small fee for) to help you and your loved ones strengthen your family bonds while honouring the Day of The Dad.
SAFRA Jurong
The first of 6 exclusive live-stream 15- to 20-minute videos on subjects related to all things fatherly will be held on 12 June from 12 noon onwards on SAFRA Jurong’s Facebook page. Session 1 (“ICAN Fathering”) is all about the fundamentals of how to be a loving and awesome daddy. After which, tune into SAFRA Jurong’s Cooking with MasterChef Leon – Father & Child edition held by MasterChef Singapore Season 2 runner-up Leon Lim (click here to read up more about him) where he will be joined by a father-and-child pair to learn how to cook a simple 2-course family meal. Once everyone’s done with food, time to work off those calories by joining in the workout episode of Dad & Me in Muay Thai (2.15 to 3 pm) with Coach Eric and his sidekick Lucas, and cool down by building a solar-powered miniature robot with the “Wood Craft Workshop for Dad & Me” (3.15 to 4.15 pm).

SAFRA Yishun
Figure out how to be a superhero in your child’s life in Session 2 (“Roles of a Father (Part I) – Provider, Protector And Coach”) of the live-stream videos, held on SAFRA Yishun’s Facebook page at 2 pm on 13 June. Or, for all the young Picassos and aspiring-artist dads out there, you might want to check out the three arts and craft workshops on 13, 20 and 27 June (all starting from 12 pm), with each workshop covering a particular arts and craft subject, such as basic batik painting and terrarium making. SAFRA Toa Payoh
“Roles of a Father (Part II) – Playmate, Cheerleader, Counsellor and Comforter” is the subject of Session 3’s video, held on SAFRA Toa Payoh’s Facebook page on 19 June (from 2.30 pm onwards). It’s a smorgasbord of virtual excitement, all held on 20 June, on SAFRA Punggol’s Facebook page! Find out how you can get to spend quality time with your children in Session 4’s “Hope For The Busy Parent” from 11.40 am onwards. But, before attending this sesh, learn how to make a super bubble solution in the “Super Bubble Show by Professor Messy” (10 to 10.30 am) and how to take Insta-worthy photos with your mobile phone from Lawrence, the chairman of the SAFRA Digital Media Club (10.35 am to 11.35 am). Meanwhile, your kiddo can make a gift for daddy-o during Lollibox’s “Look That’s Our Dad Wooden Keychain” workshop (1 to 1.10pm) and create some fun slime along in a creative slime making workshop by Quaint Candy (1.15 to 1.45pm). Lawrence returns to share his tips on creating videos using a mobile phone (1.50 to 2.50pm), following which is more artsy fun for children in Arts@SAFRA programmes, Erudite Stories’ “Adventure of Mousedeer + Craft” session (2.55 to 3.30pm) and The Theatre Practice’s “Story Challenge” performance (3.35 to 4.05pm).

SAFRA Tampines
Hubbies and wifeys might get some good insight into bringing up LO together in session 5’s “Parenting As A Team” on 26 June (12.30 to 1.30pm) on the clubhouse’s Facebook page. Before that, chill out in the morning along with LO by engaging in calming Taiji exercise (10 to 11.30 am), and after that, have your mini-sportsperson pick up some fancy football skills from the Lion City Sailors (2.30 to 4 pm). Or, have your family members get ahead of all these by participating in “A Day with My Dad!” Basic Sports Photography online workshop (from 8 pm onwards) on 16 June and join in a photo contest to win $500 worth of SAFRA Rewards vouchers with a total of 5 winners ($100 per winner) for Father’s Day.

SAFRA Mount Faber
Parents who wish to deepen the bonds with their kids, session 6’s “Knowing Me Knowing You” (1 to 2 pm) is tailor-made for you – make sure to attend it on 27 June on the clubhouse’s Facebook page to find out how to deal with your young’uns growing up by improving your knowledge of your child’s inner world. For the rest of the day, there are exclusive Coffee Appreciation (9 to 10 am) and Wine Appreciation (4.30 to 5.30 pm) Zoom workshops just for Dads (or for those 18 years and above). For the whole fam, there’s “Father & Child Exercise” by UMove Fitness (from 11 am); a cooking recipe session by local TikTok foodie and home cook Engel Koh and our fave Chef Leon Lim (from 12 pm); an Acai bowl-making video (from 2 pm); a performance by local roller skaters Zi Yi and Nic (from 2.30 pm); and an ice cream-making workshop (from 3 pm). Round up the day (and a whole month’s worth of #ToDadWithLove activities) by watching a live-stream concert at 8.30pm.

Aside from the programmes held by the SAFRA Clubhouses, there are also other Father’s Day activities that you might want to check out. The Families for Life’s Parenting Seminar Series is a 3-session series conducted via Zoom that revolves around the Positive Parenting Programme (Triple P), an evidence-based tiered programme that equips daddies and mummies with the skills to help develop and support their children’s psychological, social and emotional competencies. Seminar 1 (12 June, 5 to 7pm) is about “The Power of Positive Parenting”; Seminar 2’s (19 June, 5 to 7pm) topic is “Raising Confident, Competent Children”; while Seminar 3 (26 June, 5 to 7pm) concludes with “Raising Resilient Children”. Or, get active and moving together with EnergyOne Gym‘s Father-Son Workout video series (13 June) where you will learn how to bond with your child through some simple and safe workouts. Also, be sure to join the “7 Roles of a Father” online educational activity and the #ToDadWithLove quiz with the youngsters in the brood and you might just make Father’s Day more memorable with prizes such as a PRISM+ monitor arm and stand, and lumbar support memory foam cushion pillows.
