By Annie Tan        10 June 2022

As we all know, meal time is the best bonding time. With special kids’ menus, kids-dine-for-free offers, playgrounds and bouncy castles, these six cafes and restaurants will be a hit with your younglings this June school holidays. Perhaps you’ll even buy yourself a little time to enjoy that extra cappuccino or beer in peace while they play their hearts out.

1. Have a Happy Meal

There is no denying that Mcdonald’s Happy Meals have a timeless appeal, spanning from our generation to our kids’. So why not re-live some of our best childhood memories with our little tykes? Order a Happy Meal, unbox it together, and chomp away while playing with the little toy or reading the book that comes with the meal. Simple pleasures are often the best.

2. Groove and gobble

Another classic from our generation, Hard Rock Cafe first opened in Singapore in 1990 bringing together rock and roll memorabilia and classic American comfort food such as the Legendary Burgers, ribs and milkshakes. The cafe also has a kids’ menu with Buddy’s Bangin’ Burger with Cheese and Razzi’s Redonkulous Chicken Tenders. Spend the afternoon checking out memorabilia such as guitars, costumes and photographs, and reliving tales from your youth. Kids eat for free during weekends from 12pm to 5pm at the Cuscaden outlet.

3. Hop on board

Step into the colourful YouTube world of Cocomelon. With booths designed to look like school buses, branded utensils, and menu items inspired by your pre-schoolers’ favourite characters, CoComelon at CLOVE is as cute as it gets. Treat your little one to a TomTom Favourite Burger, CoCo-CaDo Smoothie, Cody’s Mochi Yoghurt Pop, and Wheels on the Bus Oreo Milkshake. Little touches such as the colouring activity and maze on the placemats, the play area, and CoComelon merchandise such as toys, balloons and temporary tattoos will keep your tot occupied all afternoon.

Available till 30 Jun 2022 at 2 Stamford Road Swissôtel The Stamford, Level 2; Tel: 6431 6156

4. Go day-glamping with the kids

Start your day right with fresh pastries and artisanal bread. Tiong Bahru Bakery Safari is a safari-style glamping cafe inspired by founder Cynthia Chua’s trip to Botswana. The cafe is famous for its croissants and the kouign amann, a sweet Breton cake your kids will love. Alternatively, order the Junior Set for your little ones, which comes with a hot chocolate, a choice of brioche, Danish or croissant, and an activity book with stickers. Of course, the main appeal of the place is the 3,000 sq ft garden of edible plants beside it, as well as the cafe’s small playground and sandpit, which will buy you some time to catch up on coffee and an adult conversation.

Located at 130E Minden Road; Tel: 6877 4876

5. Bounce away the stress

There is nothing more satisfying than watching your little one demolish a meal with gusto. While Cafe Melba at Goodman Arts Centre has a kids’ menu of pancakes and mac and cheese, its main menu of French toast with cinnamon sugar, home-made maple berry sauce and vanilla cream, battered fish and chips, burgers and pizza are also super kid-friendly. Your energy bunnies will also love the spacious outdoor patio, the bouncy castle at weekends, as well as its proximity to The Artground, an engaging art space for children below the age of nine.

Bonus tip: Kids eat for free every Monday with the purchase of a main meal.

Located at 90 Goodman Road Block N #01-56, Goodman Arts Centre; Tel: 6440 6068

6. Beach together

Sitting on the golden stretch of Siloso Beach, Coastes Beach Club’s main attraction is the sun, sand and sea. Toddlers and young children will enjoy water play and building sandcastles, while tweens and teens may prefer to lounge on the deck chairs, take an #OOTD shot, and watch the waves roll in. Those with babies in tow also will be glad to know that the restaurant even has its own diaper changing station. Little and not so little children will also love the selection of burgers, pizzas, pastas and fresh seafood.

Located at 50 Siloso Beach Walk, #01-06
