Has your child always liked drawing and painting? Or, you may be looking for fruitful weekend activities for the kids. Nurture their interest in art and you may be surprised to discover a budding artist, with classes at SAFRA’s own art school, Canvas Ark, located at SAFRA Toa Payoh and SAFRA Choa Chu Kang.
Art may be intrinsically abstract, but not with Canvas Ark’s learning metrics. Its team of teachers has curated a curriculum that revolves around five core artistic processes: Inspiration, Imagination, Expression, Experimentation, and Presentation. And unlike conventional art programmes, their lesson plans have fun elements with clear objectives to guide the experiential learning process.

A day with Andy Warhol
This session paid a special tribute to the father of pop art, Andy Warhol.
After a short introduction to complementary colour sets and patterns, Jovian guided the students as they used watercolour pencils to sketch and paint motifs styled after defining elements from the pop art movement. Time flew by and before we knew it, the kids had produced interesting and colourful works of art.
Jovian, who is a seasoned instructor and educator, simplified complex concepts into digestible bits for the young learners. He made it look so seamless and did it all with a smile, no less!
While we were packing up, one of his students went up to his mum, proudly holding up his art piece.
“Mummy! Look at my painting! Very nice right?”
Instilling confidence at Canvas Ark
