4 Best Kids Playgrounds in Singapore 2022

Making memories with the family through simple means

28 July 2022

Singaporean children nowadays naturally spend a lot of time indoors. From the endless classes, revisions, and homework to do, to the gadgets that keep us glued to our beds. Our daily essentials from food to socializing, can be achieved without the need to leave the house.

However, the lack of movement and outdoor activities can seriously deter one’s health, especially for young children who are in their most crucial development stage.

Kids need outdoor activities as the exercise helps with muscle development and overall health.

Spending too much time watching TV or using mobile devices can lead to myopia and obesity at a young age.

Spending time outdoors helps to the child develop better motor skills and various other intangible skills like creativity and social skills.

Outdoor activities can also be a great bonding activity for the family. Good familial ties and a good support system are essential for children to build healthy attachments and grow into responsible, mature adults.

Bonding activities do not have to be elaborate or costly in order to become treasured memories for children. Most of the time, it’s the simplest ones that manage to etch themselves deep into their memories.

Singapore has plenty of indoor and outdoor play areas for the young – and the young-at-heart – to burn some energy. This article will cover 4 of them.

The Admiralty Park playground, located in Woodlands, is the ideal place for family bonding. Not only does it have various zones to cater to children of various age groups, it is also designed for parents to be able to play with their children.

From family slides that can fit up to four people sliding down together to swings that have both a bucket seat and a regular seat so that both parent and child can swing together. Additionally, this playground also features an inclusive playground that provides the physical structure or “hardware” that supports play between children.

You do not have to worry about either of your children getting bored or feeling out of place with how big and inclusive this playground is.

The Toa Payoh dragon playground may be less exciting as compared to the more advanced facilities found in other playgrounds, but it still serves as a nostalgic piece for many Singaporeans.

While the Toa Payoh Dragon Playground is much smaller compared to the Admiralty Playground, it is the perfect place to bring your kids for a throwback tour and let your kid experience the playground from the old school days!

Where the playgrounds were much simpler, the ground was covered in sand, and there was a distinct rustic aesthetic that could only be provided by the passage of time.

The trip here would serve as a wonderful history lesson for your children to widen their knowledge of the past and learn what your childhood looked like.

The visit here would be perfect for picture taking or even playing old games like Capteh, Police and Thief, Ice and Water, and so on, to get all the nostalgic feels.

Woodland’s Grasshopper Playground is a must-visit if your children are into flora and fauna. It features a life-size grasshopper suitable for children aged 5–12.

With facilities built around the two insects’ frames, like a rock climbing wall on the grasshopper’s wings and a slide that goes down its back, to a small slide on the ant made for the little ones aged 2–5.
