What’s New In Singapore: February 2021

Things to do, buy and eat this festive month.

By Diana Najm        12 February 2021

Love – and Chinese New Year songs – are in the air this February. Do you need any other reason to celebrate? Unlike previous years, however, we can’t just grab our luggage and head on a short getaway during the long weekend. But there are plenty of things to do on our sunny island.

This February, there are so many exciting brand collaborations for your retail therapy needs, new store openings, decadent and romantic dining menus to treat your special someone to, drive-through exhibitions (the first in Asia, at that) and cool performances for the whole family. Keep calm, grab your face masks and TraceTogether tokens, and carry on – just remember to practise safe distancing.

Things To Do

Moo Moo PARK
Ongoing till 28 March 2021, tickets from $5 at Sistic

Do you enjoy drive-in movies? Then you need to check out Moo Moo PARK, Asia’s first drive-through exhibition. Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) has transformed the Centre’s car park into a wonderland for all to enjoy artworks by foot or in an electric car, while learning about Chinese culture and the importance of sustainability.

The immersive experience features colourful works by eight local artists and The MeshMinds Foundation. Don’t miss a special “talking” red packet by artist PuffingMuffin. Her whimsical artwork comes to life in the form of an ox sculpture clothed in popular Chinese motifs, with a festive Chinese New Year greeting in Mandarin and the five main Chinese dialects of Singapore (Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese, Hakka, and Hainanese) voiced by young Singaporean children. So grab your cameras for an Insta-worthy treat!

Got To Move 2021

Singapore’s annual nationwide dance movement Got to Move (GTM) returns for its sixth edition this January to March. This time, dance lovers can enjoy it from the comfort of their own homes, as the movement is presented digitally for the first time ever. So put on your dancing shoes and enjoy the virtual programmes, which include five interactive digital dance programmes for the whole family.

Launching in time for the March holidays are two family-friendly programmes that invite younger audiences to join in the fun: The Kueh Tutus’ Plotterpus Adventure Tours and Instagram AR filters by The Arts Fission Company. You’ll also get to know the city’s emerging dancers on GTM’s social media pages and witness the beauty of inclusivity that dance can bring to communities through its Dance x Social videos.
